

Certainly one of a kind, Rickey Henderson had the personality to match his game. Known as the “Man of Steal,” Henderson is regarded as sports’ greatest leadoff hitter and baserunner. He played a remarkable 25 seasons, including four stints with the Oakland A’s. On top of being a two-time World Series champion, a 10-time All-Star and 1990 AL MVP, Henderson holds numerous all-time records, including career lead-off home runs (81), runs scored (2,295) and, most notably, stolen bases (1,406).

From 1980 to 1991, Rickey Henderson won the stolen base title – except for 1997 when he had a nagging hamstring injury.
CC Celebrates Black History Month – The Pioneers of the Game of Baseball
Everyday for the month of February, CC will feature one of his baseball heroes as part of Black History month. Each one of the men had a profound effect on the game of baseball and was an inspiration to CC as he worked to become a Major League Baseball player.
