Known to one and all as the “Say Hey Kid,” Willie Mays is considered by many as the greatest all-around player of all time. Upon retiring in 1973, Mays finished his career with a .302 batting average and 660 home runs – third most all time at the time of his retirement. A two-time MVP, Mays tied a record with 24 appearances in the All-Star Game. He was placed second in The Sporting News’ List of 100 Greatest Baseball Players.

      CC on Willie:
Willie Mays ( outfielder ) “in my opinion, Willie has to be the greatest center fielder of all time. He excelled in every aspect of the game. I was honored when I had the chance to meet him at the All-Star game in 2007.”

      Did You Know:
Mays is the only player in Major League History to have hit a home run in every inning from the 1st to the 16th.

"I grew up in the Boys & Girls Club, grew up in the inner city, saw everything that it can do for you," Sabathia said. "I was fortunate to be able to get out, and now I'm trying to give back."
